FPF: Triton cove is nominated. woot woot

Thanks to some truly awesome blog buddies (links coming soon) Triton Cove is nominated for a boomerang award from studio 30+. When I found out I was totally flattered and stoked and immediately began formulating a plan to write some super kick ass photo flaunt to rally support for the cause. That was a little while ago and now that voting has finally begun I'm totally behind the bar. Why? because this is my first day of down time since I heard about the awards in the first place. All the stuff that has happened int he last few weeks would be a long, winding story filled with strange digressions and slightly macabre topics. So i'll save that rat's nest for another post and for now just say that for the moment I am completely and utterly emotionally and physically exhausted.

I wish I had some wise and witty words to wrap up 2010 and usher in the new year with hopes of blog awards and the inevitable launch of my side project Red Picket Fence. But right now I'm just too distracted with my rum and coke and tivo'd Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The cruel cold world filled with artistic insecurity and whorish self promotion will have to wait another day. I've had an assload too much perspective on big picture stuff to process right now. So I'll just say this. Thanks for the nomination guys. If we're blog buddies and you're nominated, write me, cause I don't want to miss you on the ballot. And everyone should click the link below for the ballot form.

AND VOTE. Because how else will we know that sitting here in our pajamas and navel gazing is worth all this time and effort.

So anyway, I figured this was as good a time as any to do a look back at previous photos that have been featured along with a few new ones (This has nothing to do with the fact that I'm away from the home office and can't upload any new photos from my external drives). Why? Because I'm just as much a shameless whore as any blogger, and I want you to go vote!. Seriously, go do it. Vote minions! And tell your friends. Blog awards are more important than the golden globes nowadays.

Here's some eye candy to motivate you.

Halfassin it and biding my time

Holy blog awards Batman! Triton Cove is nominated for best photo blog over at Studio30+. Thanks to Heather at sugar free thoughts for the nom and The Didactic Pirate ( two totally awesome blogs btw) for pointing it out to me, otherwise I probably would have had no idea.

I'm just too cool for school like that. I'm all "yeah yeah, another blog awards. Who cares. I'm above all that stuff. Right? Right."

Okay FINE, maybe not. Maybe I'm a big fat liar who actually craves validation in the most unequivocally narcissistic and insecure way possible. Maybe it's my first nomination for pretty much anything. (except the tanned hide trophy, thanks to vinny c for popping my award cherry - he was very gentle) and MAYBE my inner artist is spending equal amounts of time dancing a jig and curled in the fetal position huddled in a dark corner of my psyche. Or I could also totally not care at all. For reals.

The bottom line is you should really go vote, and not just for me, but all the categories, because there's nothing more important than stroking each other's egos!

I'm actually all out of the whack today because I spent all this time on this "a look back" FPF.  Mostly because I'm shameless and I'm going to end up whoring myself out to every person who might possibly vote for me. Then, right before it's ready to post I realize that despite what many people thought (it wasn't just me being dumb this time) the forum that is up is for Nominations, and votes are not even being counted yet. Phhttt.

The other problem is that I'm away from home right now. Home is where my external hard drives are. My external hard drives are where all my photo libraries are. So I don't have much of a selection to pick from for this week and I don't waste the series before voting has opened, duh. Cause then everyone will be all "these pictures are awesome, I should go vote for best photo blog." and then they'll try to vote and be like, "oh wait these votes don't count yet it's just nominations, I'll totally vote again when it's time." And then the days will go by, I'll write some other lame post that covers up the pretty pictures and when the voting actually starts people will be all "I was gonna vote for some photo blog wasn't I? Hey look, there's 1 hot-pocket left in the back of the freezer!" And then instead of voting they'll eat a delicious and convenient snack. That happens to me all the time. These hotpockets are great. What was I talking about?

Anyway, I think this week, I'm get all random up in this bitch. I have all these random snapshots, (often crapshots) that just don't fit in anywhere specific, or they just aren't that good. They're a little blurry, or whatever and for whatever reason didn't make the cut. So today's FPF is sort of like the special features section on a dvd. Fun stuff that wasn't good enough to make the main event.

First let's look at some wedding shots. Photobooths are becoming popular more and more for events like weddings, birthdays, special events etc. It's a pretty awesome way to record the attendees of a party without sending a photographer around to try and snap candids of everyone. These photos usually end up looking like this one on the right I found on google. Most people get stiff and awkward when a camera is pointed at them.

But if you use a photobooth set up, you put a camera on a tripod with a background and give people a remote control to shoot their own pictures. For some reason people tend to loosen up in this context. And then you get pictures like these.

What's next... ummmm. How bout some food porn to go with your hot pocket.

I wanna have bacon's babies.

Real porn next? okay, maybe not. Firemen?

BABY HITLER!!!!! okay I might have just found this randomly on google by accident. but seriously, come on!

I don't really have anything to follow baby hitler right now. so... peace out

I've peaked

Here's a really random little post. I know I've been gone forever, and because of that I'm trying to cram a bunch of stuff into a "what I did for Christmas break" report. However, that is taking longer than I had hoped since it;s actually a pretty insane and confusing story. So for now, here's a little chunk I broke off the bigger post. I'll post something real in just a little while. for now, here's something that made me laugh.

Ever wonder if you've peaked? Like maybe you've done the best you can do and it might be time to just shut up and eat a hot pocket while you watch Louis C.K. videos over and over. After being away for a few days, I recently happened to click on that little bastard tab that says "Stats."  For us bloggers, this button should be labeled "you're net worth as a human being" or something along those lines. Sometimes I don't check my stats for days at a time, sometimes I just sit there and hit refresh for hours. But the other day I clicked on it, and when I went to "all time," I actually had to chuckle out loud to myself.

Please understand I'm not trying to bitch and whine and throw a big poor me festival here. I'm not into that and it bugs the shit out of me when people go on and on about not getting the recognition they deserve. But you gotta admit it's kind of funny. Obviously, this is partly because I was a huge bum and didn't write a damn thing over Christmas, combined with the fact that most people are spending time with family over the holidays and not reading the meaningless ramblings of some dude on the internet. Still, it's sort a poignant visual metaphor. Since the blog is relatively new, over the course of years that bar will go up and down and hopefully that will not be the all time highest point in my interweb jabbering career. Which is why I had to post it before it changes and becomes less funny and/or sad.
